TO THE MUSICIANS AND BANDS OF KENYA – DO YOU WANT TO GO ON A CONCERT TOUR IN SPAIN NEXT JULY?

KENYA WILL HOST THE ELEVENTH EDITION OF VIS A VIS, A SPANIS INITIATIVE ORGANIZED BY CASA ÁFRICA

Kenya will host the eleventh edition of the successful cultural cooperation project Vis a Vis, organized by the Spanish public diplomacy institution Casa África, to promote a greater knowledge of African music in Spain. The project is a collaboration between the Government of Kenya, through its Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage, the Embassy of Spain in Kenya and the Embassy of Kenya in Spain.

This initiative offers Kenyan musicians the opportunity to participate in a competition to perform for a group of Spanish cultural programmers, most of them music festival directors, and after these performances two bands will be chosen to tour the main Spanish festivals during July 2020.

From February 20th onwards, the platform www.africavisavis/kenya.com  will be available for Kenyan musicians to register and upload their music, compositions, bio, audiovisual and photographic material, in order for the Spanish programmers participating in the event to assess the works for the preliminary selection phase. We are looking for artists and bands of any music genre that aspire international recognition.

After this phase, there will be 12 bands chosen that the Spanish programmers will see  perform live in Nairobi between the 1st and 4th of April.

It will be during these days that the two winning groups of the Kenya Vis A Vis 2020 edition will be chosen.

The two artists/bands selected will visit Spain during the month of July, performing in the main festivals that participate in this edition.

Before its arrival to Kenia, Casa Africa’s Vis a Vis project has been organized in Senegal, Cape Verde, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Equatorial Guinea and Angola.

Casa África is a public diplomacy consortium at the service of Spanish foreign policy, integrated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Spanish Government, the Government of the Canary Islands and the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, city that hosts its headquarters.
